Over the summer our Sodexo managers will continue to work with an eye towards making improvements and following protocols that will strengthen the quality of the services we offer and make our schools communities even better in the 2014-2015 school year.

Google Applications for Education

Technology has transitioned many of our services to Google Applications for Education (GAFE). 

Google Talk

Groupwise Messenger is bring phased out as a messenger client in favor of Google Talk.  To use Google Talk you will first need to sign in to the Google link above and accept terms and conditions.  After this is complete download Google Talk software from the link below, install it, and sign in using your full email address and Novell password.

Virus Protection

  • Download the new version of Trend OfficeScan [48 MB] for your computer. Double-click on the program file to install. This is a fully automated silent installation. The program will automatically update itself with new pattern files. If the program does not install properly, you will receive an error message. If it does install properly, the only indication you will have is a small blue circular icon in the bottom right of your taskbar.

Printer Drivers

  • Download HP Laserjet 4000 Print Driver [Windows 95 or 98 only - Window 2000 and Windows XP have these drivers preinstalled]
  • Download the HP Network Printer Wizard [6.5MB] for Windows 95 and 98. NOTE: This program replaces the old procedure of custom installing the HP Laserjet 4000 toolbox in order to use an IP networked printer.

Printers

We use iPrint, Novell's printer management solution. Go to http://8jiprint.albany.k12.or.us/ippdocs/ in your web browser and click on your school to find out what printers are available for you to use in your building.

Make sure you install the iPrint Client before choosing a printer. The link is right at the top of the web page.

 

Computer and Equipment Donation:

We are requesting donations of the following:

Computers:

  • P4 2.8 GHz or higher processor
  • Windows XP Professional operating system
  • 512 MB ram
  • CD-ROM drive
  • 17-inch monitor or better

Printers:

  • We will accept ink cartridges for all HP deskjet printers 700 series and above.
  • We will accept toner cartridges for all HP laserjet printers 4000 series and above.

Network Equipment:

  • Cisco routers, 2600 series or higher
  • HP managed switches
  • All network equipment must currently be available for sale from the manufacturer.

All donations should be made to the Technology Department of the Greater Albany Public School District. You may request that your donation go to a particular school, but the district will use its discretion in determining final placement of all donated items.

Transportation Department bus

The Greater Albany Public School District Transportation Department staff work to ensure the safety of all students in the district. Transportation safety is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of bus drivers, school staff, parents, and students. Untitled Document

Find Your Bus Route The District's school and bus route information is available using Infofinder, an interactive, online bus route finder.

How it works:
Type in your address and zip code (include Drive, Street, Avenue, etc. Note: school and grade information is not required for a search.). Click the "Search" button to get a list of routes associated with your address. (NOTE: PM bus stop times listed are approximate due to unforseen traffic, weather, etc. Students are to be at the assigned stop at least 5 minutes before the posted times.)

Print options: Click the printer icon (printer) next to the school name to print bus stop information. To print a list of routes, schools, and an area map, print the page directly from your browser.

Notifications: You can also register to receive notifications sent out by the Transportation Department.

English Language Learner Program (ELL)

The three primary areas of focus for Greater Albany Public Schools' English Language Learner Programs are:

  • English Language LearnerEnglish Language Development (ELD) to enable students to participate fully in English instruction.
  • Support for meaningful access to content through instructional research-based instructional methods.
  • Family Outreach – parent involvement, translation/ interpretation, family assistance in conjunction with Families and Agencies Coming Together (F.A.C.T) and Migrant Education.
