(WAIVED THROUGH THE 2027-2028 SCHOOL YEAR)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS PROFICIENCY:

• Read and comprehend a variety of texts at different levels of difficulty;
• Write clearly and articulately;
• Apply mathematics in a variety of settings;
• Demonstrate critical thinking, speaking, technology, civic engagement, global literacy, personal and teamwork skills.

STUDENTS WILL DEMONSTRATE MASTERY OF ESSENTIAL SKILLS BY:

• Achieving a state-determined score on the state assessment tests in reading, writing, and mathematics; or
• Achieving a state-determined score on another standardized test (SAT, ACT, PSAT, WORK KEYS); or
• Completing approved, locally-scored work samples.

REQUIRED COMPONENTS OF EDUCATIONAL PLAN:

• Identify personal and career interests;
• Identify tentative educational and career goals and post-high school next steps;
• Set goals to prepare for transitions to post-high school next steps (college, military, work, apprenticeships, other);
• Design, monitor, and adjust a course of study that meets the interests and goals of the student.

REQUIRED COMPONENTS OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROFILE:

• Monitor progress and achievement toward content standards, career-related learning standards, essential skills, extended application, and other appropriate standards, such as industry-based;
• Document personal accomplishments as determined by the student;
• Review progress and achievement at least annually.
